If you were at our last Unwine in Style event, Summer 2022, you had the chance to see Bindy perform live!
We have a few questions… so our audience can learn a little about you.
What is your full name? How old are you?
Hi, My name is India Tanyah Corley. I’m 25
Where are you from?
I was raised in North Carolina but I was born in Chattanooga. I moved back here when I was a freshman in Highschool.
What Highschool did you attend?
I attended Central High for my freshman and sophomore years and then transferred to Ooltewah for my last two years.
What made you want to be a singer? And how did you start your career as a singer?
I’ve always had a passion for singing but I was always timid when it came time to sing in front of people. I started singing in talent shows in middle school and then once I moved to TN I started going to studios and writing my own music. I was still shy to perform and sing in front of big audiences so I took a break to focus on academics and sports.
So, you played Basketball in Highschool? What made you go from sports to music?
Once I graduated High school, I was still discovering myself and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I didn’t go to college because I didn’t really have an interest of study so I took time off. That’s when I re-discovered my love for making music. I started back writing and getting in the studio. I started collaborating with local musicians, artists, and producers. Then I began getting local gigs and making fans. I still play basketball recreationally with my friends. I’ve even contemplated becoming a youth basketball coach or at least an assistant but with where my career is, I don’t know if I could fully commit to it right now.
What are some of your goals as a music artist?
My biggest goal is to make a living off my music, touring the world and meeting other musicians, singer songwriters, producers. One of my “sub goals” is to create a song with or for Beyoncé.
Are you interested in dabbling in other industries as well? Fashion or Acting? And why?
Alongside singing, I’m an actress and model. Modeling is something I’ve dreamt of doing since I was a little girl. I’ve done pageants, barbizon and a plethora of other organizations to begin modeling but I was always so committed to basketball. I attended a talent showcase in Orlando 2021 for modeling, acting and singing. Now that I’m an adult, I’m able to pursue all my dreams simultaneously and full fledged. If you want to do it all, you should!
When did you start modeling/acting? How did you get your first big breaks in those industries?
I started modeling and acting around 19/20 years old. I wasn’t getting paid for work yet but over time I built my resume and started landing bigger gigs. I’ve been featured in Sunstroke and Supercut Magazines. I was also featured in film “Ain’t God Alright” and “Access Control” produced by Andrew Bullard. These are some of my most recent accolades.
You are so multi talented, you sing, you act, you play sports, you model and you are a bartertender? What can’t Bindy do? Is there anything that you don’t do that you would like to do in the future?
My brain is always in motion. I’ve been contemplating going back to school for a psychology degree because I love studying human behaviors and the way the mind works. I love helping people solve problems. But I’ve also thought about being a math teacher because I love math. I was recently offered an opportunity to play basketball at the collegiate level but I’m not sure if that is something that would throw me off course or launch me forward into something else new. Needless to say, anything I have a desire to do can be done.
Where do you see yourself in the next 10 yrs?
Who knows, because of my deep fascination with space, I may want to be an astronaut in 10 years 🤷🏽♀️
Any new projects in the work? Albums or singles dropping?
I have several things dropping soon. WISH YOU COULD single is dropping this year alongside PROPER and some other tings 😇 stay tuned…
